Manager Sourcing – Hardgoods

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive product tendering and selection by follow up with appropriate suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Apply product knowledge and expertise with allocated product area, the existing supplier & manufacturer base including detailed knowledge on production, raw materials and components, effecting continual improvement throughout ALDI’s supplier base.
  • Recommend strategy to locate, develop and manage source of supply for ALDI direct buying program such as utilizing relevant trade fairs within Asia. Experience with Canton Fair preferential.
  • Manage existing supplier relationships and direct buying contracted orders by regular communication, and factory meetings or visits.
  • Coordinate and monitor the production of all direct buying contracted items within area of responsibility until final delivery.
  • Communicate proactively internally with CR, QA and international departments as well as external suppliers & service providers to track critical path of products and ensure success of direct bought products.
  • Produce regular updates as well as maintaining information source / due diligence files for market trends including production regions, pricing of raw materials, and other cost relevant items.
  • Support visits to Asia of ALDI buyers during visits to suppliers / manufacturers when required.

Your Requirements

  • Degree holder in business or other relevant disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in similar positions gained in sizable organization.
  • Sound knowledge in hardgoods production and sourcing business.
  • Experience in sourcing and order completion for German and European market(s) is advantageous.
  • Practical hands-on experience in factories in Mainland China is essential.
  • Sound managerial skills and experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, team player.
  • Good command of both verbal and written business English and fluency in Mandarin essential.
  • Able to work independently, self-motivated, responsible, well-organized and willing to learn.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational, coordination and planning as well as problem-solving skills.
  • General knowledge of MS office and Exchange essential.
  • High level of maturity, integrity, trustworthiness.
  • Proactive and result-oriented business approach.
  • Willingness to travel (mainly in China and South East Asia).
